International gateway for the West of Ireland

Ireland West Airport is unique in the Irish aviation industry in that it is operated as an independent airport by Connaught Airport Development Company (CADCO) Ltd, a private company responsible for its day-to-day operation. CADCO’s shareholding is a Partnership between the Horan Airport Trust and seven local authorities in the West and North West region, who each hold 82.5% and 17.5% of the company, respectively. The trustees of the Horan Airport Trust are responsible for ensuring that any profits generated by the airport are reinvested in the airport, with a focus on supporting the surrounding region. Through this structure, a level of community and regional-economy involvement is brought to bear on the airport’s focus, which is uncommon elsewhere.

Ireland West Airport enjoyed its busiest ever year in 2024, with over 834,000 passengers using the airport.

Meeting and training room hire

With a capacity for up to 30 people, our Sláinte meeting room is available to hire for meetings and training purposes.

Sustainability

The airport is currently working towards completing the ACI carbon accreditation programme.

Airport Developments

To date, over €7,000,000 has been invested in undertaking safety, security and infrastructural projects in 2024.
