Ireland West Airport welcomes funding announcement for safety, security and sustainability projects

Ireland West Airport today welcomes the announcement that €5,663,704 in funding has been approved for 2025. This funding is being allocated in support of 11 projects eligible for support under the Public Policy Remit – Capital (PPR- C) and CAPEX funding schemes under the Regional Airports Programme 2021-2025. The Programme provides Exchequer support for critical safety and security projects and for the airport’s sustainability initiatives, as the airport undertakes several projects to meet our commitment to net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Projects Approved for Capital Investment in 2025:

The airport will invest over €1.1 million to support the completion of these projects in addition to the exchequer funding.

Welcoming this announcement, Arthur French, Chairman, Ireland West Airport, said ‘We welcome today’s announcement of funding by the Minister of Transport, Darragh O’Brien TD, of over €5.6m, and acknowledge him for this support for the Airport to maintain compliance with relevant EU safety and security regulatory requirements and also in supporting six key projects with a fundamental sustainability focus. This funding will support the latest phase of investment by the airport, across several projects, including a major focus on a range of sustainability initiatives, aimed at both futureproofing the airport and supporting our progression to achieving level 4 ACA Certification as we prepare for another strong summer of passenger traffic at the airport”.
