London, Winter Wonderland and more

Two trips to London, either side of Xmas, to visit family and see the sights.

So easy to book the car parking there now, we do it online and save some €€’s and have a coffee at the airport.

Ireland West Airport is changing and looking even more modern. We had a nice time in the Executive Lounge, coffee and something to eat before we headed off.

The new(ish) Aviation Gallery is well worth a look, my kids enjoyed it.

The pre-Xmas trip had a great feel as Ireland West had a real Xmasy feel, most traveling that weekend were families, visiting Family and London it seemed.

London is great at this time of year, December, as it has a real buzz of Xmas. We took in Hamley’s and it’s still a fantastic space for kids and their parents. Close to Oxford Circus, and on 5 Floors of fantasy, the moment you walk in the door you are entranced, by staff doing magic shows, flying planes or just entertaining the crowds.

From there it’s onto Hyde Park, and the Winter Wonderland show. It’s our 4th consecutive year there and its great fun as it caters for everyone, families, groups of friends and couples. It’s a massive funfair with a European market thrown into the mix. There are food outlets, bars and bands playing too.

Winter Wonderland runs from November to early January and is free to enter.

Whilst in Hyde Park there is a lovely café which sits across from Winter Wonderland and looks out on the Serpentine Pond, again it’s a famous London landmark and a nice break from the helter skelter of Winter Wonderland.

Our next trip is already being planned and will maybe be the new route to Cologne in Germany which launched this year.
