€41,000 Raised for West Region Charities

The staff at Ireland West Airport Knock have succeeded in raising €41,000 in funds for charities in the West of Ireland. Now in its third year, donations have been given to three charities namely Western Care’s Highland Lodge in Kilkelly, the Mayo Roscommon Hospice and Hope House in Foxford. The staff raised the funds by organising a 25 Drive Card Game which took place in the airport on 19th October 2005 as well as a very well attended Annual Gala Night which took place in the Belmont Hotel, Knock, on 11th November 2005. At this event music was provided by Flamingo followed by a traditional music session. MC on the night was performed by the popular comedian Frank Forde. With his usual fun flare, Frank helped raise funds for the various charities by auctioning off many sought after items. High bids were achieved for flights, sun holidays, signed sports memorabilia, a PC, home entertainment systems and even a pool table! Indeed, the full-four course dinner for ten people prepared and served in the successful bidder’s very own home by the catering team at the Airport, went down a treat. The staff at Ireland West Airport Knock wishes to thank everybody, especially those who donated prizes and participated in the gala night, for their kind donations and contributions.
